Crandon, WI

Jerett Brooks, the reigning Pro 2 World Champion returned to Crandon International Raceway for the annual Labor Day Weekend of thrilling short course off road racing at “The Big House”. In front of a capacity crowd, Brooks ran the bright red #77 K&N Filters / Bilstein / General Tire Pro 2 fast and flawless setting the pole and earning a dominating win on Saturday.

Brooks debuted the new truck, with a win during Round 4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) back in late August. After departing Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, they headed straight to Crandon, Wisconsin and had been living at the track since. This afforded ample time for a proper teardown, race prep to perfectly dial in the Bilstein Shock setup, and formulate an aggressive General Tire groove.

Jerett, having now sorted out an extremely well-tuned #77 K&N Filters Pro 2 and fully prepared for the biggest race of the year, was looking for nothing but the big win. Brooks started quick and picked up the qualifying pole for Saturday’s race. “I am so pumped to take P1 during qualifying against a huge field of Pro 2 Trucks. This track has some insane speeds and it just makes us that much faster. The truck and team are on point. We are feeling really good about what the weekend holds and are ready to go racing!”

Jerett possessing a detailed study of the course, familiarity with how the track conditions develop and having set the quick time in this brand new truck, was feeling very confident for the Pro 2 main event. The land rush start saw 19 trucks flying wide open through the field and cramming their way into the fastest most famous Turn 1 corner. Coming around the bend was Brooks racing door-to-door with the Crandon hometown hero of #4 Keegan Kincaid. Jerett pressed hard inside but Keegan had the better straighter line and squeezed out the hole-shot. Two turns later, Brooks laid down the speed and went hard into the Turn 4 “Gravel Pit” to capture the lead.

From this point on it was the Jerett Brooks show. By the end of Lap 2, The #77 K&N Filters truck had put up a 20 truck lead and 5.608 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor. Lap 3 expanded the lead to 6.380 seconds and Lap 4 enlarged even more to 7.645 ahead of 2nd place. Brooks was running fast and flawless with nothing holding him back.

Lap 5 brought the Competition Caution out and the field was stacked up for a restart. Jerett leading the group coming through Turn 1 got the green flag and turned it on. Jumping way out front right away, Brooks ran on the ragged edge in full control. Again, showing very quick lap times, the #77 Truck held it down at the front. By this time, Kinkaid had been passed by Doug Mittag in the #81 Pro 2 and was working hard to close in on the lead. Jerett maintained to the finish and earned another Crandon victory.

From the podium interview, Brooks commented, “We kind of got a rough start and fell into 2nd. It was muddy right behind Keegan. I wanted to charge hard and I knew Keegan was going for it. I got around him and pretty much let is sail. We had a huge gap and was just trying to stay comfortable to figure out my lines for later in the race. Right after the caution, I knew Doug was going to be behind me. It came down to the end and I could feel the heat. It is cool to battle with him after being teammates awhile back.”

Jerett continued, “We came out here to win at Crandon, and it’s rad to be back up on top of the box. I want to give a huge thanks to my family for getting me out here, my team and partners! Thank you to the fans for showing up, it’s nice to be racing with you all again!”
